Electrical Panel Engineer
Job Responsibilities
Develop and review technical documentation for electrical panels, including:
- Single Line Diagrams (SLD)
- Wiring Diagrams
- Panel Layout Drawings
- Bill of Materials (BoM)
- Terminal and Cable Schedules
- Functional Design Specifications
- Develop the sketches of the drawings and closely work with the CAD draftsmen to produce the final revision approved by customer.
- Mentor the panel assembling team for the Panel assembly standards as per specification.
- Develop the nameplate and tagging philosophy for the electrical wiring panel components.
- Collaborate with manufacturers to ensure compliance with project specifications, IEC/NEMA standards, and customer requirements.
- Support FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) procedures, punch-list closure, and test documentation preparation.
- Work closely with the engineering, QA/QC, and construction teams to resolve design queries and technical issues during the project lifecycle.
- Ensure panel designs are suitable for integration with control systems, instrumentation, and telecom interfaces as required by the SDC scope.
- Review vendor documentation and provide technical comments.
- Ensure as-built documentation is updated and submitted in line with project requirements.
- Support development of O&M manuals, training documentation, and commissioning procedures related to electrical panels.
- Maintain configuration control and participate in document control workflows (e.g., through EDMS platforms like Aconex, Procore, etc.).
Request Skills
- Experience with telecom or data systems power integration is an advantage.
- Familiarity with Hazardous Area classifications (ATEX/IECEx).
- Previous experience working in oil and gas industry is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, control philosophies, and interface diagrams.
Education and certification
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
- 5 years of experience in electrical panel design, preferably in industrial, oil & gas, or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency with electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar).
- Familiarity with IEC, BS, or NEC electrical standards and practices.
- Knowledge of low-voltage switchgear, MCCs, control panels, and power distribution systems.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and understanding of cross-system integration (e.g., with automation, instrumentation, or SCADA).
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
