Inspection Engineer
Location: Onshore / Offshore
Work Schedule: Rotational
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Line Manager (LM) and/or Senior Inspection Engineer (SIE) in the delivery of SGS Azerbaijan LLC’s scope as per client contract.
Functionally report to the Offshore Installation Manager regarding all inspection services coordination and execution.
Liaise closely with platform personnel to ensure proper planning, scheduling, and equipment availability.
Assist in inspection strategy reviews and the development of inspection programs.
Contribute to the preparation of detailed work scopes and perform pre-surveys of equipment where necessary.
Perform all agreed offshore inspections within the limitations of the SGS-issued Letter of Authority , ensuring timely execution.
Supervise SGS and third-party personnel, ensuring work scopes and associated risks are clearly communicated. Conduct briefings/Toolbox Talks as required.
Submit inspection reports (including interim reports if necessary) using approved templates, detailing condition, fitness-for-service, observations, and supporting NDT data.
Review and, where applicable, approve reports completed by NDT technicians and third parties.
Assess detected anomalies/defects in accordance with SGS/client procedures such as the IQRO process.
Provide recommendations for remedial actions and verify repair quality and completion.
Update or provide data for inspection databases (e.g., ACET) and maintenance management systems (e.g., Maximo, SAP).
Attend relevant meetings such as shutdown planning, IQRO, safety assessments, and risk reviews.
Maintain up-to-date logs and registers in compliance with SGS/client procedures.
Provide timely reports as required (daily, weekly, handover, etc.).
Requirements:
Strong understanding of inspection strategies, reporting standards, and anomaly management processes
Familiarity with inspection databases and CMMS platforms (e.g., ACET, Maximo, SAP)
Good communication skills and ability to lead small technical teams in a high-risk environment
