Job overview
The Head of HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental Protection) is responsible for ensuring a healthy and safe working environment within the organization, as well as for the development, implementation, and oversight of policies and procedures related to occupational safety and environmental protection in compliance with local and international regulations. This role involves the effective execution of measures aimed at minimizing risks, safeguarding employee health, and promoting environmental sustainability.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement HSE policies and procedures in accordance with local legislation and international standards.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and monitoring at workplaces to ensure compliance with HSE regulations.
- Investigate workplace accidents and incidents, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Design and deliver training programs to educate employees on safe work practices and environmental awareness.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, audits, and inspections.
- Develop appropriate measures to assess risks and minimize hazards.
- Collaborate with various departments to identify and eliminate potential environmental and safety risks.
- Develop emergency response plans and conduct drills to ensure preparedness.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all HSE-related inquiries and issues within the organization.
- Prepare and present HSE performance reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Monitor waste management, air and water emissions, and promote the efficient use of natural resources.
- Prepare reports and documentation required by relevant governmental regulatory and supervisory authorities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Technical Safety, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree is preferred).
- 5 years of experience as an HSE Manager or in a similar role (experience in heavy industry is preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations, international standards, and best practices.
- Knowledge of working with hazardous materials, managing technical risks, and ensuring safety in industrial processes.
- Relevant certifications in the field (NEBOSH, ISO, OSHA, etc.).
- Proficiency in MS Office and HSE management software
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High-level communication and teamwork abilities.
- Attention to detail, mental stability, and emotional maturity.
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken) – essential for technical documentation and communication. Russian language is an advantage.
- Ability to work under pressure in a safety-sensitive and highly disciplined work environment.
