Competition Coordinator

Location: 3rd CIS Games host city
Reports To: Cluster Competition Manager
Job Type: Full-time

Job Summary:

The Competition Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all competition-related aspects of a specific sport within the assigned cluster. This role ensures the competition is delivered according to international federation (IF) standards, event regulations, and technical requirements. The Competition Coordinator works closely with sport-specific technical officials, referees, and competition staff to guarantee a smooth and professional event experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Sport-Specific Competition Management:

  • Manage and oversee all competition-related aspects for the assigned sport within the cluster.
  • Ensure compliance with international federation (IF) regulations and event-specific rules.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of competition schedules and formats.
  • Coordinate with venue teams to ensure the proper setup of the field of play, warm-up areas, and technical zones.
  • Monitor the execution of matches/events, ensuring they run on time and according to regulations.

Technical & Operational Coordination:

  • Work closely with referees, judges, technical delegates, and sports officials to facilitate smooth competition delivery.
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, and distribution of sport-specific equipment.
  • Ensure accurate and timely competition results processing and reporting.
  • Assist with the implementation of sport-specific scoring and timing systems.
  • Support doping control and athlete medical services coordination, as required.

Stakeholder & Team Management:

  • Act as the main point of contact for all sport-specific competition matters within the cluster.
  • Liaise with national and international federations, ensuring adherence to competition protocols.
  • Provide guidance to volunteers and support staff assigned to the sport.
  • Conduct briefings and training for competition staff and volunteers.

Risk & Contingency Planning:

  • Identify and mitigate potential risks affecting the competition schedule and athlete performance.
  • Support the Cluster Competition Manager in developing and implementing contingency plans for the assigned sport.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed for athletes, officials, and spectators.

Post-Competition Reporting & Evaluation:

  • Assist in the post-event analysis and competition reports.
  • Document key insights, results, and areas for improvement for future events.
  • Contribute to the knowledge transfer process for the sport’s competition operations.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge and experience in competition management for the assigned sport.
  • Prior experience working in sports events, federations, or competition organizations.
  • Familiarity with international federation (IF) rules and regulations for the sport.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing schedules.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
  • Fluency in English/Russian (additional languages are a plus).
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and event days.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with international sports federations or at major sporting events (e.g.,European Games, İslamic Games, Asian Games, FIFA events).
  • Experience with sport-specific competition software, timing, and scoring systems.
