Mechanical Inspector
Responsibilities:
- Reads and interprets materials, such as work orders, inspection manuals, and blueprints, to determine inspection and test procedures;
- Analyzes and interprets sample data;
- Installs and positions new or replacement parts, components, and instruments;
- Completes necessary procedures to satisfy licensing requirements, and indicates concurrence with acceptance or rejection decisions;
- Confers with vendors and others regarding inspection results, recommends corrective procedures, and compiles reports of results, recommendations, and needed repairs;
- Cleans and maintains test equipment and instruments to ensure proper functioning;
- Tests and measures finished products, components, or assemblies for functioning, operation, accuracy, or assembly to verify adherence to functional specifications;
- Inspects materials, products, and work in progress for conformance to specifications, and adjusts process or assembly equipment to meet standards;
- To ensure the integrity of the equipment and piping.
- Assist in carrying out the gap analysis for the PIAF to identify areas of improvement within the plants to achieve excellence in plant integrity.
- Develop inspection monitoring plans based on the identified damage mechanisms of a process unit.
- Develop/review/improve inspection related work processes and KPIs.
- Carry out inspection of plant and equipment, maintain/update equipment inspection records and issue reports as required.
- Tracking and updating the field recommendations after due verification. Identify integrity threats and develop suitable monitoring plans.
- Coordinate with operations, maintenance, process and corrosion engineers when required for static equipment and piping condition monitoring and developing inspection plans for enhancement of their integrity.
- Monitor inspection schedules and follow-up for compliance of inspection requirements as per relevant company
- Review thickness monitoring locations for their correctness and optimization and inspection techniques/methods
- Analyze the NDT data/reports and issue recommendations when required as company standards/procedures.
- Review/finalize detailed inspection scope when required for plant shutdowns in consultation with OME teams.
- Participate in shutdowns, issue recommendations for ensuring integrity of equipment and piping, monitor
- Implementation of the recommendations and forecast the materials required for next shutdown.
- Knowledge of maintenance experience and practices is essential.
- Develop QA/QC and inspection and test plans as required and carry out stage wise monitoring for ensuring
- Quality as per engineering standards.
- Implement appropriate quality improvement tools/systems with appropriate work processes.
- Participate in implementation of the MoC procedure. Participate in incident investigation and failure analyses
- Related to mechanical integrity of static equipment, and identify the weakness in the procedures, systems and methods.

- Starts and operates finished products for testing or inspection;
- Reads dials and meters to ensure that equipment is operating according to specifications;
- Collects samples for testing, and computes findings;
- Inspect machines to ensure they are up to code;
- Investigate code compliance complaints and resolve or refers complaints to appropriate staff;
- Inspect storage tanks, fittings, towers, and pipelines;
- Examine instrumentation, valves, and fittings for defects, such as cracks, corrosion, and leaks;
- Inspect materials, products, and work in progress for conformance to specifications;
- Check heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems;
- Inspect automotive equipment;
- Interpret all mechanical drawings and their change documentation;
- Use route sheets and inspection logs;
- Discuss disapproved items with architects, engineers, contractors and/or owner builders to obtain plan changes necessary for approval.
- Ensure the efficiency, quality and performance of the Mechanical works to meet project objectives
- Review and closely monitor project schedule and Mechanical Systems activities
- Report directly to and transfer the directives of the RE and/or Construction Manager in respect to construction works execution by the appointed EPC contractors
- Ensure Contractors compliance to approved WMS and ITPs
- Identify potential issues affecting construction progress and provide direction and solutions as to the means of avoiding and mitigating them
- Provide timely recommendations and directions to mitigate and resolve issues (related to Mechanical Systems) arising during project process
- Coordinate with engineering disciplines and other professionals in the project to ensure timely delivery of Mechanical Systems activities
- Assist in the review of work implementation, design and construction to ensure correct implementation of the project according to design, project specifications, details and standards
- Ensure the efficiency, quality and performance of the Mechanical works to meet project objectives
- Monitoring the Mechanical works for conformance with the provisions of the contract documents, manufacturer's instructions and the procedures manual
- Serving as site representative for all matters related to construction quality assurance of Mechanical works
- Assist in the review of all the Mechanical shop drawings, method statements & ITPs and discussing with the team with relevant supporting documents to process for approval or disapproval
- Coordinating and supervising the installation work of Mechanical items
- Checking the contractor's As-Built Mechanical drawings for accuracy
- Assisting with the final inspection of the work and reviewing the adequacy and accuracy of punch lists
- Monitoring and controlling the day-to-day activities of the Mechanical inspectors i.e. site work inspection as well as inspection of the materials delivered in contractor’s store
- Ensuring that inspections are carried out in time and quality of installation and delivered materials is maintained as per the relevant specifications/standards
- Preparation of Engineer's Daily Diary
- Assist in the review of contractor's inspection, surveying and testing requests and subsequent completed reports
- Monitoring the performance of the sub- contractors
Requirements:
- Citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan
- Full time employee;
- 7 years and above of experience within the oil and gas industry;
- Good command of Azerbaijani and English, (Russian is an advantage)
- Certifications or thorough knowledge of related industry codes & standards;
- Able to evaluate mechanical tests such as ground-fault, ground resistance, polarity, continuity, capacity, load and other mechanical field tests during the execution of the works
- Ability to interpret single-line and/or schematic mechanical drawings as well as plans and specifications QA/QC of Mechanical works
- Basic design requirements, estimation, installation activities related to Mechanical works for construction of building and infrastructure projects
- Familiar with all the Mechanical Engineering methodologies as well as the corresponding equipment, materials, consumables, tools and manpower allocations related to Mechanical works for building projects
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
- Management skills to lead a team of Mechanical Inspectors in the field of inspection and approvals of installed works
