ADA University was established under the decree dated January 13th, 2014, by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The University is a state higher education institution engaged in the delivery of undergraduate and graduate degree programs in addition to the advancement of research.

The University is the legal heir of the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA) and Information Technologies University. They were merged in January 2014 to establish ADA University.

Founded on March 6, 2006, the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy began offering an Advanced Foreign Service Program to diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and civil servants in the government, as of January 2007. The Academy launched its first master degree in September 2009, followed by bachelor degrees in September 2011.

Specialist, Student Programs and Learning Department of Student Services and Alumni Affairs

Position summary

  • Specialist, Student Programs and Learning reports to the Manager of Student Services assisting and running student service learning and leadership programs.

Responsibilities 

  • Providing opportunities for students to develop leadership skills and individual responsibility through participation and leadership in student activities and organizations;
  • Offering trainings to develop vital life and soft skills for the better community engagement and service;
  • Advising and liaising with student governments and student clubs on various extra-curricular learning and development programs;
  • Designing and carrying out student outside the classroom leadership development programs, trainings on social conduct, diversity, ethics, moral and norms;
  • Encouraging student involvement in community service/volunteer activities via social-responsibility projects;
  • Running and overseeing regular community service and leadership events. Establishing institutional annual activities/events to landmark the institution campus life;
  • Designing and implementing innovative extra –curricular developmental programs that are not directly provided by the academic units but engages them in the learning process;
  • Involving students in the enhancement of integrity and conflict resolution within the institution through various channels including effective promotion of the Code of Conduct, Honor Code and other related workshops and events;
  • Helping in complimenting students' classroom learning by offering practical experiences in which students are able to explore values, career options and their leadership potential;
  • Offering structured opportunities for students to reflect on their community/service and understand community social issues and citizenship;
  • Initiating and helping in regular evaluation and assessment the of community service learning experiences and other initiative of the Unit;
  • Marketing and organizing programs and events, running all related logistic aspects;
  • Ensuring alignment of all service learning opportunities with the academic programs through cooperative efforts with the faculty and the Academic Affairs at a whole;
  • Maintaining regular calendar of events and planned activities throughout each semester;
  • Referring students to extra trainings provided off-campus if required for their better social and leadership skills development;
  • Creating the promotional visual materials (photo, video) for the promotion of the Student Life;
  • Managing and maintaining activity of social media accounts and online visibility of student services; and overall student life activities;
  • Collaborating with faculty in the development of impactful co-curricular activities that support student learning and engagement;
  • Coordinating the planning and implementation of Partner Events hosted at ADA University;
  • Supporting the organization and execution of major university events such as Graduation, Orientation Week, and other institution-wide gatherings;
  • Assisting with the preparation of required documentation, including forms, reports, and official acts;
  • Providing mentorship, guidance and organizational support to the assigned category of student clubs, ensuring alignment with institutional values and goals;
  • Providing support in the preparation of case files and formal records for Student Code of Conduct proceedings;
  • Reporting to the Manager of Student Services on a regular basis and coordinating all necessary issues, including student grievances.  

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Humanities or Social sciences;
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in an educational environment, specifically direct engagement with students and student support services;
  • Proven competence in communication, team work, leadership and administration;
  • Proven ability and understanding of student extra-curricular programs design and implementation;
  • Proficiency in Azerbaijani and English, Russian is a plus;
  • Effective communicator with approachable manner and friendliness;
  • Flexibility and positive attitude;
  • Well-developed approach to details and timely actions;
  • Service-oriented with a great sense of ethics and norms;
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build partnerships and work with all levels of employees and management;
  • Ability to collaborate with management to organize, plan and achieve organization’s financial goals;
  • Must be capable to maintain a high level of performance in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality always;
  • Technology savvy: Word, Excel, Publisher, Coral Draw, Adobe Photoshop, AI tools, Familiarity with Student Information Systems is a plus.
