Senior Geophysicist
Senior Geophysicist role for Subsurface team
Role Synopsis:
- The Senior Geophysicist leads geophysical interpretation and integrated subsurface studies to support exploration, appraisal, and field development activities. The role is responsible for analyzing geophysical data, developing subsurface models, assessing uncertainties, and providing technical recommendations to support decision-making.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead seismic interpretation and integrated geophysical studies to define subsurface structure and stratigraphy.
- Generate and review horizons, faults, depth maps, and seismic interpretation frameworks.
- Support prospect evaluation, reservoir characterization, and field development activities through integrated subsurface analysis.
- Assess interpretation uncertainty, technical risks, and data quality in geophysical studies.
- Integrate geophysical interpretations with geological, petrophysical, and reservoir engineering data.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for stakeholders.
- Support project planning, technical assurance, and mentoring juniors.
Essential Education:
- Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in Geophysics, Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
Essential experience and job requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in seismic interpretation and integrated subsurface analysis.
- Strong understanding of seismic acquisition, processing, interpretation, and data reliability assessment.
- Proficiency in geophysical interpretation software such as. (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom, Aspen RMS or similar)
- Experience in quantitative interpretation, inversion, rock physics, velocity modeling, or seismic attribute analysis.
- Experience supporting exploration, development planning, and reservoir characterization projects.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently on complex technical studies and presentations.
